The Municipality of Nafplio and the Organizing Committee of the Palamidi Race invite you to participate in this year's event that will take place on Sunday, December 8, 2024 in historic Nafplio.
The event includes: • The "Palamidi Race" with a climb to the castle of Palamidi. • Historical Memory Race for the Anniversary of the Fall of Palamidi (10km for adults and 3km for middle school & high school children).
All races to be held according to the following terms: 1. Race Details 1.1 Event Date: Sunday, December 08, 2024. 1.2 Start – Finish All routes start and finish in the demarcated area in front of the entrance to the Castle, on 25th March Street. 1.3 Race Routes
The “Palamideios Athlos” is a race with special requirements. Runners start by climbing the historic castle via the 999 steps, continue through the castle and then begin the descent via the provincial road Nafplio – Palamidi Fortress. Then, they turn right onto Kyprou Street, then left onto Sidiras Merarchias Street and finally turn left onto Polyzoidis Street to be led left onto 25th March, to the finish.
The new route of the Historical Remembrance Road for the Anniversary of the Fall of Palamidi (distance 10km) is as follows:
The runners start from the start, continue diagonally left onto Kyprou Street, left onto Sidiras Merarchias Street and then right onto Vasileos Pavlou Street. They run along the Nafplio – Nea Kio provincial road where they make a U-turn at a distance of 650m. after the KTEO (former ‘‘Pharma Group’’), approximately at the 5th km. of the route.
They return from the same road right towards the city port, following the coastal road. They pass the Piraeus junction, turn left onto Polyzoidis Street and then left onto 25th March to the finish. This year, for the first time, a 3km route will also be held, with the participation of only middle and high school children.
The children start from the starting point, continue diagonally left onto Kyprou Street, left onto Sidiras Merarchias Street and then right onto Vasileos Pavlou Street. They run along the Nafplio – Nea Kio provincial road where they make a U-turn at the ‘‘Galaxias’’ supermarket, approximately at the 1.65th km. of the route. They return from the same road, right towards the city port, following the coastal road. They pass the Piraeus junction, turn left onto Polyzoidis Street and then left onto 25th March to the finish. * It is noted that the routes were changed this year (2024) following the instructions of the Nafplio Traffic Police, so that there is minimal disturbance to the city from the organization of the event. For the Organizing Committee
